Midgard Serpent - an historically based original design.

The Midgard Serpent (or 'middle-earth dragon', ouroboros), is a creature from Norse Viking mythology. The Midgard Serpent circled the earth eternally swallowing its own tail. It was fought by the god Thor in the Ragnarok, the final battle at the end of the world.

This design employs the Ringerike style of Viking artwork in the dragon's head and in the filigree pattern, with a runic overlay. Ringerike is an area of Norway my great-grandfather Thorvald Lee, and his ancestors, were from. The design (base drawing below) is my original artwork. The runes say Deb - Rule - Geo in runic letters.

The tattoo is on the small of my back just above the bikini line (a nice, semi-private location). It's three inches across. Took about an hour to put on and, yes, it hurt.

It was done by Raleigh at "Wild Bill's Tattoos" in Roseville, California--the artists who do most of the tattoos for the Sacramento Kings basketball team. They did a good job--I was pleased with the artwork and the experience all the way around.
